About the Main Hall

Completed in 2007, our exceptional village hall provides a versatile facility for a wide range of events. The building has ample off road parking and over an acre of grass in a landscaped setting. It was nominated for and subsequently won the Suffolk Acre Village Hall of the Year Award 2009.

The Building & Grounds

The entrance area has double doors through to the main hall room, as well as to the toilets (ladies, gentlemen and disabled), and the kitchen. A number of coat hooks are provided.

The main hall function room is approximately 15m x 9m, with a ceiling height of 3.6m. There is room to seat 120 people at tables or 150 people in rows. Double doors open into the Sun Lounge, the rear patio, and the side. A large serving hatch opens to the kitchen. There are both bright and low level artificial lighting options, and a number of hooks are provided at a high level around the room for hanging decorations from.

Off the main hall is an alcove area measuring 4.2m x 3.8m, which can be closed off with sliding shutters, and also has a serving hatch from the kitchen. Many people use this as a food serving area, or for more formal events close it off as a staging area. There 3 rectangular tables here measuring 160cm by 80cm.

The chair cupboard measures 4.5m x 3.6m, and can double as a changing or storage area for events such as band performances. There are a selection of large round tables (5ft diameter), 4 medium round tables (3ft6ins diameter), 3 rectangular tables (6ft6ins x 2ft6ins), 8 small square tables (3ft6ins square) and 150 cushioned chairs. Another smaller cupboard measuring 3.9m x 2.2m is used for general storage, and houses the boiler, ventilation controls and fuse board.

The kitchen measures 3.6m x 3.6m, has two electric ovens and two sets of four hobs, two under-counter fridges and a freezer, a hot water boiler, kettle and microwave, and enough place settings for 120 people.

A large patio area lies to the rear of the building, running the entire length of the building and projecting out just over 4 metres. There are green plastic chairs that can be used as outside or additional seating. A canopy area links the main room and Sun Lounge to the patio, it makes a nice shaded area on sunny days, or somewhere to stand a BBQ incase of rain.

The hall has a South facing “back garden” of over an acre of lawn, with hedging to all sides, that comes with all hall bookings and makes a great space for outdoor parties, games, BBQs or for siting bouncy castles, marquees, etc. There is vehicular access along the side of the hall to the lawn.

There are floodlit landscaped parking areas in front of the hall, with room for around 40 cars, including 3 tarmaced disabled spaces immediately in front of the building. Further car parking spaces can be found in front of the football pavilion, and around the play area and tennis courts. The parking area behind the play area has 4 bays with EV charging points.

The village hall is accessible with a disabled WC and all external doors having level thresholds. The building has an oil-fired heating system, and an input/extract air circulation system.
